Flexions
Flexions is the collaboration of Robin Stein, Devin Welch and Tyler Swan, friends since their youth in the damp and fertile Seattle punk scene. Upon the conclusion of Devin's previous group, Shoplifting, the Devin and Robin embarked on their project - forging an inclusive musical identity encompassing varied musical aspirations. Their first year found them charting a trajectory informed by dub and psych, dusted with exotica and propelled by the ice cold heartbeat of a Roland drum machine.
In late summer 2008 the duo connected with Adam "Grippo" Swan of Truckasaurus to record "Leisure Time" released by the Journal of Popular Noise. In 2009 Flexions grew to a three piece with the inclusion of Tyler Swan on drums. Flexions' repertoire veers wildly between neurotic electro-funk, tranquil eno-esque daydreams and moody dubwise constructions. This is music to embrace the contradictions between the deadpan and the impassioned, the spiritual and the disposable. Flexions musical outcomes are at once confusing and deeply rewarding.
