“There’s a ramshackle magical confidence that tumbles throughout all the songs, a sense that Furman has created his own unique, captivating world…”
“The highly anticipated follow up to Day Of The Dog, Perpetual Motion People sees Ezra Furman back with a bang…”
“Perpetual Motion People are the “people who feel they can never settle” for whom and by whom this album was made…”
“Ty Segall has formed a new band with members of Melvins and Redd Kross…”
“Furman would probably have seemed fairly unusual in any era, but his distinctiveness shines a little brighter in a world where a lot of rock is painted in neutral shades…”
“His work in collaboration with his regular backing band, The Boyfriends, seems to have lifted his songwriting still further from the norm, taking the glam-punk sound of his last album, 2013’s Day Of The Dog and moving it into new territory. The result is that he’s never sounded more like Ezra Furman…”
“Perpetual Motion People lives up to its title. Furman never sounds like he’s fronting the same band on any two tracks, and the copious, fascinating sleevenotes which accompany the record give every song its own address…”
” Perpetual Motion People raised the bar once again, continuing Furman’s reign as North America’s best songwriter…”
“From the album’s opener and lead single ‘Restless Year’, a song that could brighten the day of any sorry soul, the record flows into this cheerful vibe that never seems to slow down…”
“There are those that say that a prolific rock guitarist like Ty Segall should never put down the electric. Why would he? But those that cling to this narrow viewpoint, have obviously never seen Ty Segall rock a crowd without the benefit of electric amplification…”
“Ty Segall just finished up a run of solo acoustic shows in New York on Friday. As Stereogum points out, he covered Neil Young’s On the Beach track “For the Turnstiles” and trotted out a new song…”
“‘Perpetual Motion People’ is an album full of shoobedoos, dipshedipshedips and doobedoowopwops, courtesy of some eager backing vocals that are as playful as something from the ‘Grease’ soundtrack, shamelessly kitsch yet somehow deeply alluring…”
Caught in concert, Mac DeMarco has a clownish, party-starting disposition. When the Canadian songwriter wants to play it straight, however, he knows exactly how to break your heart. New track ‘Another One’ is online now, a hazy, McCartney-esque piece of bubblegum pop with a tattered psych edge.
This summer, sardonic slacker-rocker Mac DeMarco will follow up his 2014 album Salad Days with a so-called “mini-album” called Another One. Already he’s shared one track, “The Way You’d Love Her,” and today he is sharing a second, the eight-song project’s title-track.
Mac DeMarco has shared a spoof travel video. Titled ‘Too Dry Dudes’, the video documents his recent worldwide tour.
On August 7, Mac DeMarco will release Another One, a mini-LP that will serve as the follow up to his breakout Salad Days. After putting out “The Way You’d Love Her,” Big Mac has now delivered the video for the title track which pays tribute to Michael Jackson.
Following an appearance at Field Day London, Mac DeMarco visited BBC Radio 6 Music’s studios for an acoustic and full-band session.
Le Bon and Presley have released a lo-fi performance video for “Hermits on Holiday”, directed by themselves, in which the two stroll through towns and hills; Presley’s parents appear in the video as well, dancing in the background.
Musical entity Tim Presley (White Fence) has teamed up with Welsh singer-songwriter Cate Le Bon recently decided to team up to carve out a collaborative effort in the form of Drinks. Their first single, and the name of their August-scheduled album, ‘Hermits On Holiday‘, has now received a visual treatment.

Thee Oh Sees’ John Dwyer has a synthesizer-driven side project called Damaged Bug. He’ll release the new album Cold Hot Plumbs on June 1 via his label Castle Face. Mikal Cronin has teamed with Funny or Die to create a video for “Say”, one of the standout tracks appearing on the singer-songwriter’s latest album, MCIII.
Segall was a savage behind the kit. Grimy riff after grimy riff oozed off the stage.
And then the pros took the stage. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizards pulled the full crowd, and Fowlers was packed. Their music is thrashy and wild, while still holding tight to a clean sound.
Mutilator Defeated at Last is Thee Oh Sees’ first post-hiatus LP to be recorded using the band’s re-staffed touring lineup.
Melbourne garage rockers King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have both found themselves slated into two US music festivals this upcoming September: Life is Beautiful Music and Art Festival & Hopscotch Music Festival

Guitar chops, drum chops, and most definitely bass chops: The Fuzz has it all. The band has a reputation for knowing how to improvise, jam, and shred through a set list. That’s why it sold out the Great American Music Hall Wednesday night on a double bill with only the support of Los Angeles’ Lamps.
San Francisco’s Tim Presley and Welsh-born Cate Le Bon both have fruitful careers in their own right; the former has released a string of albums as White Fence, and the latter is a respected solo songwriter. Now, they’ve teamed up for a collaborative project called Drinks, with an album coming out this summer.
