“Living Under A Rock” By The Murlocs

“Australian psych-rock band, The Murlocs will perform at Red Rocks Amphitheatre tomorrow alongside King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard with whom they share several band members. In celebration of their national headlining fall tour kicking off a week from today, the band has unleashed the “Living Under a Rock” (Live at the Forum) video. Frontman Ambrose Kenny-Smith shares, “Some people live a sheltered life by choice and some people are born into it. ‘Rapscallion’ has had enough of living under a rock. It’s time for a fresh start.”

Ezra Furman has seemingly spent her last two albums in constant motion. She first traced a collection of Springsteen-esque stories of escape and romance songs with 2018’s Transangelic Exodus, then quickly offered up an incendiary punk paen to rage and fury with 2019’s Twelve Nudes. Her songs have often felt restless and nervy, finding her searching for peace and comfort amidst a hostile world that doesn’t want Furman or the people she loves to exist.

Ezra Furman is back with a new single, “Point Me Toward the Real.” The track, is her debut for ANTI-. Along with the news, Furman has announces new North American tour date. “Point Me Toward the Real,” out via ANTI-/Bella Union, marks Furman’s first solo release since 2019’s Twelve Nudes. “Cut me loose, cut me loose,” Furman cries atop dreamy horn arrangements by Nathaniel Walcott (Bright Eyes), “Let me get hurt // Let me feel // Cut my bound hands free and point me toward the real.”

“The opener, “Time Collapse Pt II./ The 7th Terror” has Segalls’ vocals screaming over the coming doom no one can escape. “Let it Live” comes with an opening riff that rattles over Chad Ubovich’s bass and Segall’s more than competent drumming. The song comes to a close with a wailing string section, which scratches itself right into the thrashing of Mootheart’s guitar. ..”
