“ii) Gold” is part of a six-song cycle that inhabits Side 2 of the album. It’s got a soaring chorus, a breakdown featuring Mikal on traditional Greek instrument the tzouras, as well as a let-it-all-hang-out finish.

Ezra Furman will be releasing his sixth album on Bella Union this summer. His last album Day of the Dog was the crystallisation of four cult albums and a lot of touring to half empty rooms, but after extensive coverage on BBC6, people have started to take note.

Rowdy crowd, meet stacks of amplifiers — Ty, Charlie, Mikal, and Emily came to singe your ears off. There have been live recordings of Ty before of course, but never so crisply and fully realized as this scorching platter of fuzz.
It’s been almost five whole months since he put out a record, but he’s back with the Mr. Face EP, out this week on Famous Class. Mr. Face is a double 7″ EP pressed on translucent red and blue-colored vinyl, and you can apparently use the records as a pair of 3D glasses.
